Visit to JFK Museum
This week's Exploring America trip is to visit John F. Kennedy Museum, a beautiful and symbolic place. JFK, whose family is the most powerful one in Boston, is the youngest president in US history and also the first catholic president. These facts reflect two important values of the United States which is equality of opportunity and self-reliance. Most of the exhibits in this museum show the election that Kennedy defeated then Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon, one of the closest in American history. This election proved another value which is competition; you have to compete with each other with each other in any field. In the Kennedy presidency, he created the US Space Program, the African-American Civil Rights Movement, which shows the Hard Work value and Individual Freedom value of American’s culture. Especially the lunar program which shocks the world is unimaginable without a great self-reliance and hard work of the whole nation. Those are the points why America is a great country——you have equity chance to begin, you compete with others, you work hard, then you earn the material wealth. Nobody will doubt you in this country besides your own.
