This week we visited a special place, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, which is five stations to Northeastern. Entered the building seems like entered the airport, we need to check our bags and then the guide give us a visit card.
We were not allowed to visit the whole building to see how the bank works. We have a lecture that given by an old staff who works in the bank for twenty years. He introduced the history and talked the function of the bank. Which interested me most is the bank is not a government agencies and the private firm has a large spend in last year. 53.4 billion incomes and 6billion for expenses.
This bank has six branches in the US. This independent bank works in the Federal Reserve Bank system. It has some unique function that other banks do not have, such as move currency and coin into or out of circulation, act in some ways as fiscal agent for America government.
This trip help us to get better understand of the US economy works.
