Our class’s topic for this week’s field trip is American heroes and the frontier heritage. So, this Friday, we went to freedom trail to visit several beautiful architectures and historical heritages.
Our class was divided into 2 groups and every group member had to act as a tour guide to introduce the background of one historical spot. We took the train to downtown crossing and began our long walk. Friday was pretty hot and thank god that I brought a large bottle of water. The long walk has made all of us feel exhausted.
After the field trip was over, most people went back to school with our GSAs. However, Lisa and I and four others followed Rebecca to visit the Bunker Hill Monument. It was first built in 1794 to honor Joseph Warren, a key Boston leader in the American Revolution, and a victim of the battle. However, by the early 1800s, it was felt that all the men who fought here should be commemorated. Therefore, the Bunker Hill Monument Association started to solicit funds from the public to make this purpose come true.
This monument is almost 300 steps tall and we managed to climb to the top. We took a photo to mark our success of reaching the top of the monument. Even though we were completely exhausted when we came down from the monument, we still feel very proud of our achievement.
You can show some beautiful pictures of the Bunker Hill Monument!
