Blog of the week

This week was just like all the others, joyful but busy, but what's interesting is that I noticed that people sleeping in the music class are getting mroe, even those who appeared attracted by the class at the begining of the semester become tired, I have to admit that some times the class is getting very boring though, however our teacher's violin performance was really impressive!! LOL.
Last Friday, we visited the Boston Federal Reserve Bank, the Boston Fed, along with the other 11 Federal Reserve Banks nationwide and the Board of Washinton, D.C made up the national central bank.We listened a lecture about the history of the Boston Fed, the responsibilities of the bank and many interesting aspects of the American currency, for example, anyone who contributed significantly can be posted on money. The lecture was long, but I learned a lot.

Last Friday, we went to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It located at 600 Atlantic Avenue in Boston. The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston also called “Boston Fed”. It is responsible for the First District of the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve Bank is as a part of the nation's central bank. It promotes sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation. The Bank contributes to local communities, the region, and the nation through its high-quality research, regulatory oversight, and financial services, and through its commitment to leadership and innovation.
Review this week I think I learned much knowledge. Also I was more familiar with the American life. There are some differences between China and America. In China when we do something have to think about what other people will think of me. When we choose clothing we have to consider about what other people will think about these clothing. But in America each people can do what they want to do. Nobody will care about what you wear and what you do. So I think I have gradually suitable for the American life.

Today we are visiting the Boston Federal Reserve Bank; it is located in 600 Atlantic Avenue. The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston must comply with the responsibility and obligation for American Central Bank. Meanwhile, it has exerted the great effort both on American Finance and economy.
The Federal Reserve Bank is established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation’s central banking system. Moreover, it follows the Federal Reserve Act which was announced in 1913, also passed by the U.S. Government. Thus the Federal Reserve Bank has become one of the significant institutions in U.S. Finance.
What’s more, it has amounts of function. For instance, holding the cash reserves of depository institutions and make loans to them; providing checking accounts for the Treasury, issue and redeem government securities, and act in other ways as fiscal agent for the U.S. Government; and participating in the activity that is the primary responsibility of Federal Reserve System, the setting of monetary policy. Thus, it describes how important and efficient the Federal Reserve Bank is.
Furthermore, the Federal Reserve Board, Federal Open Market Committee, and Federal Reserve Bank, all of the three institutions make up the Federal Reserve System. The Federal Reserve System was designed by Congress to have a board perspective on the economy and on economic activity in all parts of the nation. Actually, the Federal Reserve System is the “heart” of American economy. It could not only analysis the economic situation, but also provides some valued suggestions to relative organization. That is important benefit it offers for long time.

Last week was my most relaxing for a week but it was also a busy week. Because my teacher traveled, and I have more time to do my own things. At the same time, the middle exam is coming, so I have to spend a lot of time on my study.
Last Friday we visited the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, a bank staff told us about some of the bank's money policy, payment systerm and bank regulation supervision. I am interested in the payment systerm. It is organized very consummated. It observed that how this bank operate. I got a lot knowledge about this bank.
This trip help us understand the US economic. In other words, it is a rare experience.

This week we visited a special place, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, which is five stations to Northeastern. Entered the building seems like entered the airport, we need to check our bags and then the guide give us a visit card.
We were not allowed to visit the whole building to see how the bank works. We have a lecture that given by an old staff who works in the bank for twenty years. He introduced the history and talked the function of the bank. Which interested me most is the bank is not a government agencies and the private firm has a large spend in last year. 53.4 billion incomes and 6billion for expenses.
This bank has six branches in the US. This independent bank works in the Federal Reserve Bank system. It has some unique function that other banks do not have, such as move currency and coin into or out of circulation, act in some ways as fiscal agent for America government.
This trip help us to get better understand of the US economy works.

This is a busy week. It start from the essay in college writting class and end with the preparing of some of the midterm exam. My experience is I like this kind of busy times, it make me feel like I have something to do and courge me to do more things.
Our field trip this week is to Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. We attending a lecture about the banking system in America and how money operate in the banks in America. It's a boring trip to me. We just sitting there watching what we can find in the Internet. But I ought to say the building of the bank is awsome, and the finishing inside make me feel good.
May be a kind of remedy, I've also have some insteresting things; I start my Online Shopping in America this week! I enjoy looking at these pretty pictures and contrast them then make decision.

This week's field trip, we visited the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. That's a fantastic trip and we got some knowledges that we had never got before.
The Federal Reserve Banks used the Federal Reserve System and were establthished by congress and in order to operating arms of the nation's central bankng system. Of cause the Congress wanted the Federal Reserve to relatively independent. Because the intent of congress in shaping the Federal Reserve Act was to keep politics out of monetary policy.
The Federal Reserve Bank usually was divided by three parts, they are Monetary Policy, Payment System, Bank Regulation and Supervision.
And this bank is the biggest bank in the US, according to the incompletely statistics, there are 4.2 billion dollars dally-eelectronic payments in this bank. It controls 750 billion dollars in the whole world. 500 billion dollars are overseas and 250 billion dollars are in the US states.
In 2009, the income of this bank is 54.3 billion, 6 billion for the bank inside and bank staff's expenses and 47.3 billion to the treasury.
This was a wonderful trip and I am looking forward to the next trip

I had a great time at this weekend and my schedule was pretty full. On Saturday, I went shopping with my friends at downtown crossing. We found plenty of fancy and good-quality clothes at a rather low price at H&M. As a result, each of us end up with 2 bags of new clothes and went back to our dorms exhaustedly.

On Sunday, we took the train to Chinatown and finally found the superb C-market. There were tons of different kinds of Chinese vegetables and typical Chinese goods which thrilled us because we have not seen these delicious foods for a month! More excitingly, the price of the goods here are rather low compared with the price of the same products at other supermarkets. For example, the price of Chinese cabbage here is only $0.38 per pound, however, at Shaw’s, Chinese cabbage was charged $2.99 per pound.

After an enjoyable shopping at C-market, we headed to a delicious Chinese Hotpot Restaurant. It is a hotpot buffet and only charges $15 per person. We enjoyed our most satisfactory lunch since we arrived in the U.S. and ate lots of various vegetables. Our dining hall only serves salad and I have been eating the same vegetable for a month! Therefore, a delicious hotpot is really what I need right now.

This week, the theme of our Exploring America Class is about business, so we went to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston last Friday. It is said that the Federal Reserve Banks are "independent, privately owned and locally controlled corporations".

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is located in Dewey Square. Entering the bank is not as easy as you think; we should have a security check before visiting it. The officer of the bank put together a presentation filled with the history, monetary policy, banking information& regulation and payment systems of the Federal Reserve Bank.

I am interested in the part of payment system. It is included with three main sections Oversight Expectations---management of risks in payment and overview the systems with systemic risks, Reserve Bank Systems – provide Fedwire Funds Service and the Fedwire Securities Service and Private-Sector Systems--- supervisor for clearing, some settlement arrangements and important payments.

Although the presentation is a little bit boring and most of us feel like fallen asleep, it trip is really meaningful.

Today, our destination is located in 600 Atlantic Avenue, the Federal Reserve Bank of boston. It has to obey the responsibility and obligation for American Central Bank. The Federal Reserve Board, Federal Open Market Committee, and Federal Reserve Bank, all of the three organizations constitute the Federal Reserve System. And the Federal Reserve Act was acted in 1913. Since then, the Federal Reserve Bank is one of the significant parts in American Financial system.

The Federal Reserve Bank was established as the Central Banking System making power to 12 Federal Reserve Bank by Congress. It was followed the act which announced in 1913, also passed by the U.S.government. The country is divided into 12 reserve areas, each of the establishment has been proposed in Federal Reserve Bank branched. For instance, the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston is a corporate body and it owns its board of directors.

The duty of the Federal Reserve Bank are setting monetary policy implantation; monitoring the implementation of the banking institutions and protecting the legitimate consumer credit rights; maintaining the stability of the financial system and providing reliable financial services to the U.S. government, the public institutions, foreign institutions.

This week, we have a visit to the Federal Reserve Banks which were created in 1913 and established by Congress as the operating arms of the nation’s central banking system. The appearance of the Federal Reserve Banks is very majestic and spectacular. On the other hand, the Federal Reserve Banks has the very rigorous process for visitors to go inside of the Banks. That is to say, every person should have safety inspection. For instance, all your metallic objects need to be put on the belt, such as coin, cell phone, and anything with Aluminum foil.

Additionally, the professional officer gave us a detailed pretention about the Federal Reserve System. He mainly divided his presentation into three parts: Monetary policy, Payment system and Bank regulation and supervision. During his presentation, I had a better understanding about this Bank. He mentioned that “the Federal Reserve Banks hold the cash reserves of depository institution and make loans. Besides, it will move currency and coin into and out of circulation, and collect and process millions of checks each day.” What’s more important, the Federal Reserve Banks are relatively independent within the government; in other words, it is self-financed and therefore is not subject to the congressional budgetary process.

On the whole, I acquire a lot of knowledge in terms of banking from this trip ---- A visit to the Federal Reserve System.

A Visit to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

Today we visited a very special place---the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The federal reserve bank of Boston is one of bank of the Federal Reserve System. The Federal Reserve System has twelve banks and it was built up in 1913 and this system was designed by congress to have a broad perspective on the economy and on economic activity in all parts of the nation (handout).
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is a huge building in the center of Boston city. Its security is strict and we should take off our straps. So, you could see a lot of people took off their straps at the same time. That looks funny. Also, you can not take photos in the Federal Reserve Bank because this is a way to protect their bank system.
After the security check, a nice man took us to a meeting room and let us see the video and to know the history of their bank and system. In the video, I learned a lot of knowledge. After watching the video, the man who worked in the federal reserve bank of Boston for many years had a presentation and taught us lots things about their bank and answered our classmates’ questions. Even thought it was not interesting and a lot bit boring, it could help us to know the bank system of the USA and the knowledge was help the students who wanted to learn finance and business.

boston freedom trail

Last Firday, our USPP students went to Boston Freedom Trail, and, it was fun.
The Freedom Trail is a 4km long path throgh downtown Boston that passes 16 of the city's historical landmarks. The most impressive site of this trail, I think, is the first public school, the school is located on School street where we can see a big mosaic on the side walk that show us this is the first public school. The school was established in 1635, and four very famous people have studied in the school, one of them is Benjamin Franklin, what is interesting is that, he is the most famous drop out, because later he became a great scientist.

Last Friday, I spent whole morning visiting 12 places of historic interest. It is a hot day, and it is not a good idea that walking in the sun. But I know more about the history of Boston.
During the trip, people were divided into two groups and every one was asked to make a presentation about one interest place. We started the Park Street church. Alone the way, we walk very fast. Because it is pretty hot, most of people want to finish the trip quickly, including me. My topic is to introduct the Old North Church which is the oldest standing building in the Boston and it was founded in 1723. It is a pity that I have not prepare for the introduction very well and I'm not sure everyone in the group could understand the history of the Old North Church very well. Although the weather is not good, I was still very happy and excited.
If you have free time, I suggest you visit these places. Not only these places of historic interest are really beautiful, but also the trip is meaningful.
After the trip, I went to the downtown to buy a camera, I found out to play without camera is a very regrettable thing.

Friday morning we went to visit some sites including THE BOSTON COMMOM, PARK STREET, GRANARY BURYING GROUND, and THE OLD STATE HOUSE. I introduced THE OLD STATE HOUSE. THE OLD STATE HOUSE is an ancient building. It is a historic legislative building at the intersection of Washington and State Street in Boston. It built in 1713. It is the oldest surviving public building in Boston.
In front of the building, I feel the long history of the United States. In Saturday I went into this building. I saw many cultural relics about colonial. On the second floor, the east side contained the council chamber of the Royal governor while the west end of the second floor contained chamber for the courts of Suffolk country and the MA supreme judicial court.
Today this building is located in downtown of Boston. THE OLD STATE HOUSE surrounded by financial district. We can see that many tall buildings encircle the OLD STATE HOUSE. I can feel to the building in this city has great significance. So I think this building need a good protection. Because it can let more people know about American history.

This week, I have the freedom trail in Boston. I walk along to visit a plenty of places, such as the Boston Common, Park Street Church, Boston Latin School, Faneuil Hall and so on. It is very fantastic and amazing. In the following paragraph, I would like to introduce the scenic spot I am most interested in.
First of all, I want to mention the Faneuil Hall which is my favorite scenic spot. My first impression of Faneuil Hall is that the style of this building is quite spectacular and a little traditional. Date back to the history of Faneuil Hall, it was originally built in 1742; Faneuil Hall was the site of the colonist’s early protests against British taxation and is still used as a meeting place today. There are three floors in this building. The first floor is to shop, the second floor is to have the important meeting and the third floor is “Headquarters for Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, the third oldest chartered military organization in the world and oldest in the western hemisphere”. Additionally, I also talk about the feeling of this trip. It is a long time to have this trip, because it requires us to walk along to visit the twelve scenic spots. Besides, the weather is so hot that I nearly cannot open my eyes. Accordingly, I feel quite uncomfortable. However, after visiting those meaningful places, I think it is very worthy of having this trip. This is because I acquire a lot of knowledge and broaden my horizon from this trip. Therefore, that is why I think this trip is quite fantastic and amazing.
In a word, that is my perspective towards this trip----The Freedom Trail.

During the trip, we have been divided two groups and everyone has introduced a place, all of us were immersed in it. When we got to the Boston Common, all over the place are green trees and lawns. Birds stayed beside people without fear. In addition, I saw many little cute kids to have their trip. Everything is wonderful.
In these 12 places, Granary Burying Ground and Copp's Hill are my favorite. Granary Burying Ground is established in 1660 and many of Boston's most famous early citizens are burying here. Copp's Hill is also buried many early people. It is established earl one year than Granary Burying Ground. The gravestones were deflected so I can guess that there are very old.
I also found a very beautiful cafe when we came back. There are all flowers on the shot front and I will go there if I have chance.

Boston Freedom Trail

On the third Friday after arriving, we got a chance to walk along the Boston freedom trail, which is a red path through downtown Boston, Massachusetts that include 16 significant places of historic interest. It is a long journey that starts from Boston Common to Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown which includes some famous church, landmarks and burying grounds where many ancestors rest here. Huskies are required to meet at 9:00 while I got up at 8:50. It is a great experience to have a hastily wash and rush to the Ruggle station in ten minutes.
Actually it is not a good idea to walk 2.5 mile under such a burning sun. We took the green line to Paker Street Station and began at Common, which is the first site on freedom trail.People are divided into two groups and asked to give a presentation about one site which they chose. My topic is Granary Burying Ground, which is the city of Boston's third-oldest cemetery with a gloomy atmosphere. The Old Granary Burying Ground dates from 1660, and contains the graves of many famous people, including eight governors of the early days: Richard Bellingham, William Dummer, John Hancock and many other famous citizens in Boston. Actually I prefer to sit near ashes under shade of trees for a while rather than be exposed under such a scorching sun. What impressed me most is Former Site of the Old Corner Bookstore. Many famous books were published here, including The Scarlet Letter, Walden, and the Atlantic Monthly magazine.
It is a perfect introduction to the history of Boston, and also a great experience to sit beside bones.

I’ve spent plenty of time walking through Downtown Crossing, but I have never been to freedom Trail. This Friday, I spent my whole morning on the freedom trail which takes me to various historical sites throughout the city.
It is fun to visit these sites, I think.
We have been divided into 2 groups. The trails started at a nice park which called Boston Common and it ended at Copp’ hill. Every time we just have a quick walk through, and then went to the other sites. I was wondering that why there would be so many burying Grounds in the center of the city.
Because of the hot weather, most students preferred to return. Few of us followed Rebecca and continued to walk through. The last stop was Bunker Hill Monument. You should climb the 294 steps then it would lead you to the pinnacle. What a pity that there are no elevators in the monument; however, the amazing visit at the end of the journey is well worth it.
My friend told me that Quincy Market was on the freedom trail, and it is one of the best Boston shopping, dining and entertainment areas. Unfortunately, I hadn’t the chance to visit it this Friday, but I planned to go there next Saturday.

The Freedom Trail

Even Friday is a very hot day; we still had the freedom trail. The freedom trail is about 2000 meters walking and when we went to one place, one people of our group would do a presentation to introduce the place’s history. It was fun but it was tired. The freedom trail was a real line on the road, followed this line, you would not get lose.
There were 12 places in the freedom trail. The oldest American park—the Boston common; an important role in promoting human rights and social justice—Park street church; the place where many famous early citizens were buried there; the first non-Puritan church in the United States—King’s chapel; the site of the oldest public school in the country—Boston Latin school; and so on.
We took the train to downtown crossing and began to walk. The Boston common is beautiful and large. The building on the right of the oldest park was Park Street Church. I was introduced this building to our group. I thought that my speaking was poor so that I was no sure that everyone could understand what I said. However, the place where I loved the best was the Boston Latin School. It was not very big but it had a wonderful school. It gave me a deep feeling of study.
At last, I thought that this trip is good and the places were beautiful. If you have time, follow the steps of the freedom trail, you will have a good time.

Our class’s topic for this week’s field trip is American heroes and the frontier heritage. So, this Friday, we went to freedom trail to visit several beautiful architectures and historical heritages.

Our class was divided into 2 groups and every group member had to act as a tour guide to introduce the background of one historical spot. We took the train to downtown crossing and began our long walk. Friday was pretty hot and thank god that I brought a large bottle of water. The long walk has made all of us feel exhausted.

After the field trip was over, most people went back to school with our GSAs. However, Lisa and I and four others followed Rebecca to visit the Bunker Hill Monument. It was first built in 1794 to honor Joseph Warren, a key Boston leader in the American Revolution, and a victim of the battle. However, by the early 1800s, it was felt that all the men who fought here should be commemorated. Therefore, the Bunker Hill Monument Association started to solicit funds from the public to make this purpose come true.

This monument is almost 300 steps tall and we managed to climb to the top. We took a photo to mark our success of reaching the top of the monument. Even though we were completely exhausted when we came down from the monument, we still feel very proud of our achievement.

Freedom Trail
After the great show of the NBA Finals last night, I feel really sad because the lose of my favourite Celtics. Though I can't feel the crazy of the whole city, I still have an another exciting thing to do today which is walk follow the Freedom Trail.
This expected journey begin at Boston Common, which is a oldest park of the whole country right in the centre of this city. The second stop is Park Street Church, it's known and famous for witness and participate the history of boston. Granary Burying Ground is right nestdoor of Park Street Church, many celebrities are buried here. There are another thirteen famous places following, each of them played an unique role, not only to boston, but also to the United States. Many of them are the symbol of the Independent War's start, some others
represent promoting human rights and social justice which are the concept of the early American funding.
I feel so lucky that boston is the first place of my American life, because it's also the place where America started.

A hot sunny day, we started the trip exciting and curious. A different trip than we had that all the people in the same group is tourist guide. And I have two attractions to present The Old State Meeting House and King’s Chapel.
My favorite place is Boston Common, a beautiful with grass and trees, which is the oldest park in Boston and in America. Well, I saw a group of kids hand in hand with two teachers (I guess so) walking around the Common. How lovely they are!People are lying on the ground enjoying the sunshine and chatting with their friends. I do want to enjoy them but the trip is still going on.
Granary Burying Ground which is the oldest burying ground in Boston and is very quite and silent. Trees are big and tall, shadows cover almost of the ground. And there is no singing bird and people all quite in here, only have some whispers. I fell uncomfortable in the burying ground, fear and worried. There were nearly 5000 people buried here and the headstones are unclear to see. Hopefully, after we present the presentation we leave here and continue the trip.
The trip ended at eleven. I am looking forward the next trip. Oh, please do not go to any burying ground next time.

It’s a fantastic friday with a hot weather, however I totally enjoy myself to the Field trip.

Today, I am traveling The Boston Common——one of the oldest public park in America which established in 1634 with “huskies”. It was located in 148 Tremont Street, also near the Park Street. To be honest, I have never seen a park before which has a extensive vegetation, fresh air condition and tranquil environment. It was purchased the land rights to the Common’s 44 acres from first settler of the area by the Puritan colonists who called William Blackstone, an Anglican minister. Then, the pasture become known as the Common Land and was used to graze local livestock until 1830.

Because of the trayning field, the Boston Common was sometimes crowded with soldiers. Nevertheless, it was a good place for celebration. The beautiful garden, clam lake surface and the peaceful atmosphere, all of them can give you an deeply impression.

Furthermore, Charles Lindbergh promoted commercial aviation. That would be one of the important event in history.

As far as I am concerned, the Boston Common not only bring a piece of peace to Boston, but also form the beautiful landscape in there. If you want to experience a picee of relaxing and quilt during the baltant society, just visit the Boston Common then enjoy yourself immediately.

Trip to the Boston Massacre Site
On Friday morning, June 19, 2010, a sunny day, we visited the Boston Massacre Site. The Boston Massacre Site is located the State Street of the Boston city and in order to commemorate the five Bostonians which were killed by the English soldiers (Red coasts) on March 5, 1770.
The Boston Massacre Site was not called "the Boston Massacre" until many years after it occur ed in 1773. The first popular name was named by Paul Revere was the Bloody Massacre in the King Street. In the early 1800's, it was also called the State Street Massacre.
The Boston Massacre was described as the spark that ignited the Revolutionary War. In reality there are several other historic milestones that moved Boston towards the revolution, however, it is still playing a significant role in the Boston's history.
Today, on March 5, the local Boston people still use their own way to commemorate this specific day and mourn the people which were killed during the massacre.

This week's Exploring America trip is to visit John F. Kennedy Museum, a beautiful and symbolic place. JFK, whose family is the most powerful one in Boston, is the youngest president in US history and also the first catholic president. These facts reflect two important values of the United States which is equality of opportunity and self-reliance. Most of the exhibits in this museum show the election that Kennedy defeated then Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon, one of the closest in American history. This election proved another value which is competition; you have to compete with each other with each other in any field. In the Kennedy presidency, he created the US Space Program, the African-American Civil Rights Movement, which shows the Hard Work value and Individual Freedom value of American’s culture. Especially the lunar program which shocks the world is unimaginable without a great self-reliance and hard work of the whole nation. Those are the points why America is a great country——you have equity chance to begin, you compete with others, you work hard, then you earn the material wealth. Nobody will doubt you in this country besides your own.

Trip to JKF presidential library and museum
On Friday morning, June 12, 2010 we visited John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, which is dedicated in 1979 for remembering the 35th president of the United States. This museum react some history about early 1960’s in United Stated and the world.
The museum is located near a harbor that has a beautiful view and very quite. White wall and the black window are particularly eye-catching even far away from it. Trees and grass are surrounded.
Before we visit the exhibit, we saw a short movie that is a biography about President Kennedy who is the youngest president in the history. On January 20, 1961, JFK beat Nixon to become the 35th president at the age of 43. He had rich experience before he become president. He was graduated form Harvard University. During the Second World War, he was in the Navy and commanded in the pacific.
We saw lots of precious exhibits but which impressed me most is the words he said “ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country”. He was said it on the president election. America won the second word war and some of the citizens do not cherish the rights that they have. And they just want to request to the state but not devoted themselves to the country’s development. For us students, we should remember and follow the words that are also a destination for our study.
I am looking forward the next trip next Friday.

It was a fantastic Field Trip that I never underwent before. We were invited to visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, one of Boston’s most popular tourist attractions. You can guess how amazing and exerting the trip was.
It took us about 20 minutes to arrive at the JFK Museum. To my surprise,the Museum was located near the lake. When I took the first step in the museum, I was totally fascinated by the special culture atmosphere. John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States ,who born at a powerful family in 1917. However, his ancestors were from Ireland and Scotland.
John F. Kennedy maintained two record. On January 20, 1961, John F. Kennedy became, at age 43, the youngest person to be elected president of the United States and the First Catholic.He was graduated from Harvard University, Boston. After that, John F. Kennedy became a commander in the World War 2. Unfortunately, his submarine was beat by Japanese. Then he elected the senator successfully from 1947~1953. Moreover, he paid his whole attention on the citizens’ welfare and social aids. Finally, he was became the 35th president of the United States, which beat the Nixon(Ps: John F. Kennedy hold two elected offices, Offices of Attorney General and Campaign Office) In 1961, President Kennedy established the Peace Corps, asking American volunteers to go to the third world communities to help improve living standards and also understanding between third would peoples and Americans. In 1961, JFK p;edged that American would land a man on the moon within the decade. That sounds incredible. However, Mr. President was deeply involved in the effort to improve the circumstances of citizens with mental retardation Furthermore, the museum exhibits illustrating Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy’s accomplishments as first lady reflect both her gracious personal style and also her substantial achievement. Mrs. JFK supported his husband not only on his work, but also the family. Actually, they made a happy family.
But, in November 1963, he was murdered in Taxes.
Although JFK was a controversial president in the politic history of America, he still was one the best president of America. As far as I am concerned, the advantages that JFK brought from US far weight the disadvantages of them.To sum up,he should be respected and revered.

Yesterday I went to the Kennedy memorial. I looked some of his pictures and something that they had used when he lived. Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States. He was born in 1917. He had a big family. He graduated from Harvard in 1963. And he was elected as president in 1960. He is also the first president who is Catholic. In this memorial, there are many things that Kennedy had been used. And also there are many presents that gave as presents from other countries’ presidents. This can be seen that Kennedy is a famous president in the world. But in 1963 Kennedy was assassinated.
In the United States a president promulgated a policy or do some actions must influence some people’s interests. He may always bring fatal disaster. But through Kennedy’s life I can see that a successful president always be in danger. But a country or all the citizens need presidents such as Kennedy. Although he died, also there are so many people remember him. So I think this week I really understand a president. His name is Kennedy.

The Showcase of American value through John F. Kennedy

The JFK museum gives us a brief introduction of John F. Kennedy. The small movie shows us that Kennedy is really a hardworking person. He was graduated from Harvard University and became an intelligence officer later. On January20, 1961, Kennedy became the youngest president of the United States. When Kennedy became president, his wife Jackie —a beauty, intelligence, and cultivated taste woman act as the role of first lady.

One of the important American values of John F. Kennedy is hard work, when he was young he donates all his on reading. He was interested in history and had travelled to different places around world in order to meet people of influence and to broaden his horizon. Although suffering and undergoing serious injuries, he still tried his best to overcome these challenges.

Kennedy had said that “we stand for freedom. That is our conviction for us; that is our only commitment to others”. It reflects the fact that individual freedom is actually very meaningful for American people. Every citizen has his individual rights and owns the authority to peruse the ideal life.

What does the phrase “the American dream” means to you?

James Truslow Adams states: "The American Dream is "that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.” in his book The Epic of America which was written in 1931.

As an international student coming a long way from China to the U.S. to attend university, to me, the American dream means to get a higher GPA as possible, enjoy college life, obtain a college diploma, and explore America.

It is not easy for my parents to make the decision of sending me to America to start college life. Financially, they have to pay for my tuition and living expense in America, and that maybe mean to give up a house property in Shanghai or traveling around the world. Emotionally, they have to suffer the pain of being away from me for a long period of time.

My parents have given up a lot to support me and let me pursue my American dream. It is their sacrifice that transformed to my motivation, courage and determination. I’m going to make the most of my college life to make my American dream come true and become a fully human.
